Guest, 25, arraigned for stealing hotel’s N618,810

The police on Monday arraigned a student, Gerar Appah, 25, of Nyanya, Abuja, in a Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing N618,810 from a hotel safe.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Mohammed Ahmed, told the court that on June 25, Bibilari Bazanu, of Berkshire Hotel, Maitama, Abuja, reported the accused at the Maitama Divisional Police Station.
He said Bazanu told the police that the cashier of the hotel, one Ms Christy Enogu, raised the alarm that N618,810 was missing from the hotel cash safe.
According to Ahmed, when the Closed-Circuit Television was viewed, the accused, who was a guest in the hotel, was seen coming out of the control room where the cash safe was kept.
He said when Enogu asked the accused why she took the money she said she took the money to her church for special prayers.
